The Academy seems to have recognized that it’s better off with Sacha Baron Cohen at the Oscars than without him. Days after informing the ribald comic actor that his plans for roaming the red carpet as his character from “The Dictator” would not be a good idea, a producer of the show is saying Cohen is now welcome to use Hollywood’s biggest night to plug his movie, to be released May 11.

National Enquirer Whitney Houston’s death coverage sparks controversy

The National Enquirer angered Whitney Houston fans Wednesday and instigated a deeper debate on the coverage of her death after publishing a photo purportedly showing the singer in a gold casket. The cover photo was taken during the funeral in New Jersey, the tabloid claims, and has been republished by other media outlets, including Jezebel and Fox411, Sarah Anne Hughes of Celebritology reports:

It’s not known how the Enquirer obtained the photo. Requests for comment from Houston’s publicist and Whigham Funeral Home have not been returned.

Even without verification, the photo is shocking and disturbing. But it’s not surprising that it has been published.

The Enquirer published a photo of Elvis Presley in his casket on its cover in 1977. The issue sold 6.5 million copies, according to the Sun-Sentinel. More recently, a photo of Michael Jackson’s lifeless body was shown during the trial of doctor Conrad Murray . It was then republished in the media.


Despite the precedent set in the Presley case, Hughes believes a line has been crossed:

It seems highly unethical to me to publish a photo of this nature in the first place, but especially without permission from the person’s family. That seems to be the consensus on Twitter as well. But where should the line be drawn to begin with?

Houston’s funeral, held Saturday at a Newark church, was live streamed by the Associated Press with permission from the family. Celebritology embedded the live stream and then wrote posts about the service.

CNN, one of the cable networks to broadcast the funeral, averaged 5 million viewers during the 3 1 / 2-hour period when it took place, according to the New York Times. The AP’s stream had nearly 2 million unique visitors. Clearly, there was a demand to watch it.

The BBC was forced to defend its decision to cover the funeral service after it received 34 complaints, saying “it reflected the significant interest in her sudden death as well as acknowledging the impact she had as a global recording artist.”


Other media organizations have also caught flak for their coverage and commentary surrounding Houston’s death, says Emily Yahr of The TV Column:

Bill O’Reilly was in the headlines last week when he faced off with Matt Lauer over Whitney Houston’s death (O’Reilly said the singer “wanted to kill herself” while Lauer pointed out that addiction is a disease).


New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie likewise had to defend his decision to lower the state’s flags to half-staff, the Associated Press reports:

A western Michigan man whose son was killed while serving in the military has burned a replica of New Jersey’s flag to protest that state’s decision to lower it in honor of performer Whitney Houston.

John Burri set the flag on fire Saturday on a grill outside his home in Wyoming, near Grand Rapids.

The 60-year-old Burri says lowering flags should be done for men and women who have given their lives in service to the United States.

Former Cash Money artist B.G. faces the possibility of spending the next 10 years in prison after being indicted by a federal grand jury yesterday (May 19th).

According to a press release by U.S. Attorney Jim Letten, B.G., real name Christopher Dorsey, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and conspiracy to obstruct justice

The charges stem from a November 2009 traffic stop in New Orleans where B.G. and two associates were caught with three guns, loaded magazines and extended clips. Two of the guns turned out to be stolen.

B.G. allegedly tried to get one of the men in the car, Demounde Pollard, to claim ownership of the guns. Pollard signed a false affidavit that said the guns didn't belong to B.G. leading to the conspiracy charge.

The 30-year old rapper enjoyed huge success in the 90's as a member of the Hot Boys along with Juvenile, Lil Wayne and Turk. A dispute with Cash Money CEO Birdman over money led to B.G. leaving the label in 2001 and forming his own imprint, Chopper City Records. His last album "Too Hood To Be Hollywood" was released in 2009.

When he hit the stage he had this to say:   “Sorry guys, I just landed. Y’all still gonna party with me? I only have 20 minutes. It ain’t my fault. They should have given me a better time slot.” After performing a few songs it is reported that Cee-Lo got the plug pulled on his show and stormed off the stage. I guess next time he won’t be Tardy for the Party.

Michael Jackson’s former doctor has reportedly come to the aid of yet another airline passenger. A source tells RadarOnline.com that Conrad Murray was on a Delta flight from San Francisco to Minneapolis Sunday morning when an announcement was made that a man needed medical attention. Murray and another doctor on board helped stabilize the man, who was said to be clammy and disoriented. Fortunately the passenger didn’t suffer any great harm, as the plane reached Minneapolis and paramedics determined that he was alright. While the man didn’t appear to recognize Murray, Radar’s insider says other people on the plane “were staring at him.”

Conrad Murray was involved in a similar incident last May when he helped treat a woman who had fainted during a US Airways Flight. Murray is currently fighting an involuntary manslaughter charge in connection with Michael Jackson’s death. Jury selection in the case has begun, with prospective jurors due back in court on May 4th. Opening statements are slated to get underway on May 9th.

There is a lot of blogging about some comments actress LisaRaye made on her “The Real McCoy” reality show that just premiered in its second season.
In describing to a dating service what she wanted in a man she said she’s looking for a man that’s powerful because if he’s powerful that means he’s got money.
Commenting on a man’s penis size she also said,

“…if you’re too big that hurts … he’s thrusting in you, and you backin’ up! Just find my ‘G’ spot; let’s hit it; let’s make love.”

LisaRaye has to be concerned that some bloggers associate another comment she made –

“I think it’s easier for a man to eat sushi because y’all so used to eating p***y”

– with her having problems (alluding to a ‘fishy’ smell) with her own personal hygiene.

Wow! Now I don’t think anyone would argue that Lisa Raye is about as fine as they come – she’s drop-dead gorgeous! So in as much as she is supposedly on her so-called road to redemption, the only reason I can figure that she would make such comments is for ratings. She and the network surely had time to re-think how audiences would react to such remarks, and do some editing.

While I applaud LisaRaye for not apologizing for her beauty (“it’s a good thing I’m a pretty girl”), at times she comes across as a beautiful house but ain’t nobody home! Television’s unrelenting ratings war seems to be causing women to say and do things to perpetuate acceptance of ideals of beauty and behavior trumpeted by society that encourage women who don’t have half the looks of a Lisa Raye, to contort their body language and conversation, and make them even less attractive than they really are. Could it be that LisaRaye intends to use her beauty to take women viewers down their own path to a wholesome self-discovery?

Tuesday morning a former NFL player who remains anonymous was robbed, kidnapped, and held against his will in his 17th street Loft in Atlanta Station.The victim’s fiancé, Kim, spoke to FOX 5 about the crime on Tuesday afternoon. She only wanted her first name revealed.

“They woke him up and asked him, ‘Where is the money?’” Kim explained. “He said, ‘I don’t keep cash on me.’ They took everything in his place– everything could possibly take.”

The victim reported that the gunmen got into his apartment complex through an unsecured elevator. A representative from the apartment complex’s leasing office told FOX 5 that the elevator has since been fixed. Authorities say the intruders lifted all of his prize possessions including stealing his car, and called the victims friends demanding ransom from them as well.

“The suspects did ask about a $50,000 ransom,”

Taking a break from his solo career, Cee Lo Green is teaming back up with producerDanger Mouse to record the third Gnarls Barkley album. During an interview with Us Magazine, the “Voice” judge revealed plans to put out a new album with his production partner in the near future.

“There is a new Gnarls Barkley album coming out! There is a whole bunch of stuff with the collaborations. Hopefully people will like what I am doing, that is always a plus,” he said. “I would hope it would break more grounds. Knowing the nature of the space that we shared I am pretty sure it will be somewhat similar.”

Those allegations come to be false and Bobby recently released a statement to clear up any misunderstandings the world may have when it came to him and his fiance going half on a baby.

Usher Raymond is no longer represented by Creative Artists Ageny and chucks up the DUECES. The singer-actor will now have all facets of his career handled by William Morris, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The seven-time Grammy winner’s self-titled debut came out in 1994 and he has released six albums since then, including two in 2010: “Raymond v. Raymond” and the nine-track EP “Versus.”

Mr. Mini Pimp Katt Williams just can’t keep his mouth shut. I mean really who hasn’t this dude been in an argument with? Steve Harvey, Martin Lawrence and now some random guy in Beverly Hills.

Police were called last night to an altercation with Katt and an unnamed male. A heated screaming match took place and at least 4 squad cars were on the scene. No arrest were made and Katt was sent home. Doesn’t he know you can’t be hood in Beverly Hills?

Can someone please give him a script to read to occupy his time and keep him out of trouble?

RAG: Rumors and Gossip News- Usher Now On Board To Donate Gaddafi Money To Charity!

Alongside Beyonce, Nelly Furtado and Mariah Carey, Usher has decided to donate all of his personal money he acquired back in 2009 from doing a concert on the Island of St. Barts for a member of the Gaddafi Family Mustasim Guddafi, Muammar’s 4th son. According to People Magazine,The Gaddafi family is currently under investigation for possible war crimes, including ordering the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 in December 1988 that killed 270 people. Every artist that were booked to perform for any member of the Gaddafi Family receieved $1 Million dollars. As soon as Usher got whind of his involvment, he decided to donate 100% of the earnings from the show to worthy charities. He has already donated a portion of  the money to Amnesty International, an oranization that is geared towards helping and protecting human rights.

Usher instantly released a statement after the catastrophic news:

I am sincerely troubled to learn about the circumstances surrounding the Nikki Beach St. Bart’s event that took place on New Year’s Eve 2009,” said Usher. “I will be donating all of my personal proceeds from that event to various human rights organizations.”
